DAY 1: Undiscovered Cappadocia:
Arrival in Kayseri Airport and meet by your expert tour leader and private transportation. Drive through lush agricultural plains of Kayseri and scenic mountainous landscape until arrive in Soganli Valley. The village of Soganlı is dramatically located bewteen two high cliffed top table mountains which brought a perfect secluded area for Christian communities in the name of spreading religious beliefs and words of JesusChrist. Visit the most noteworthy churches including Domed Churc, Snake Church and St. Barbara (Tahtali Church) which all tell a different story of Christendom. The mural paintings and reportoire of seccos in the churches are stil vivid and chrconological order. After having a local lunch at a family run restaurant, drive through the cave-depots used for a long-term storage by local producers for patotoes and lemons, lush agricultural fields and with dramatic view of Mt. Argeus until the pretty village of Sahinefendi which is home to two important Christian monuments. The church of Forty Martries and the ancient Roman site Sobesos. The Church of Forty martry opened after a painstaking restoration process and it is dating back to 13th C.AD. The uniqueness of the church is the depiction of Forty Martyries who were punished by the king of Roman Empire and thrown into frozen lake for converting to Christians. The church is also home to many vivid and distinctive seccos of Biblical stories. Visit also Sobesos ancient site to see some of the rescued floor mosaics in Council Hall and Chapel section. Arrive in Keslik Monastery after a short drive another secluded monastery settlements of Cappadocia considered to be one of the beaten paths. The monastery is home to Archangel Church unique with its lapis - lazuli background. Tradtion has it that Lapis Lazuli was a precious and expensive stone contributed by the donaters to the church and found only in Afghanistan at that time. One of another uniqueness of the church is the depcition of Death of Jesus Christ depicted in the coffin. Drive to Mustafapasa - formes Sinasos - by the end of the day to visit some of other important churches of Cappadocia dedicated to St. Basil, St. Nicholas and St. Eleni & Constantine. The village homed to Orthodox Christians and Muslim Turks till 1920’s. This visit gives us the opportunity to observe both art and religion of two different cultures. We will visit a 13th C.AD Theological school of Seljukian period and a mosque dating back to 14th C.AD. Since Mustafapasa has been home to Orthodox communities for a long time, we will also visit some of the noteworthy churches dating back to Early & Late Byzantine period. The visits include St. Basil Chapel, St. Nicholas Church & Monastery and Eleni & Constantine Church which 3 of them has a different story to tell. Check into your hotel in Urgup. ( L-D) .
DAY 2: Northern Cappadocia
Journey back into Christian times with your visits to must see sites of Cappadocia including Zelve Open Air Museum; an important settlement and one of the best example of early monasteries of Christians established in the early 4th C.AD. Zelve is home to one of the oldest Early Byzantine churches known as Grape church adorned with bunches of grapes in the main abse signifying the blood of Jesus and Sacred drink Wine in Christianity. The monastery is also home to many rock - hewn settlements, living quarters, churches, chapels and pigoen holes. Other important churches include Cross church and Fish church which both has the red ochre techniques depicted in Maltese Crosses, Floral and Geometric patterns adorning the interior walls. After our visit, drive to Monks Valley where densely shaped Fairy Chimneys are taking place, peculiar to Cappadocia in the world. However, more important thing peculiar to this valley is the Chapel of St. Simon carved into soft tufa rock and the very first monk cells granted the establishment of monastic settlements in Cappadocia dating back to early 4th C.AD. Taste some of the delicious local recipies at our selected eating area in Avanos town and experience the very first Throwing pottery technique known as Kick Wheel invented by Hittites in 2000 BC. The local villagers of Cappadocia earn their living by making some precious hand-made items out of red clay gifted by the Red River, the longest of Turkey. After lunch, we visit one of the most important Christian settlements of Cappadocia, registered as UNESCO site since 1985 and is considered to be the Pilgrimage Site for Christian communities; Goreme Open Air Museum. Our visit includes Apple Church, Dark Church, Buckle Church, St. Onuphrious church, St. Barbara Chapel and St. Basil Chapel. Each chapel and church has a story from the New & Old Testament dating back different eras. Most of the reportoire of frescoes and seccos have been vividly done and protected up today.

Day 3: Rural Cappadocia
A journey in the wilderness of Anatolia
Visit one of the most fascinating hiking spots of Cappadocia, Ihlara Valley, surrounded by a lush vegetation and cut by the Melendiz River, housed thousands of Chrsitian refugees between 7th & 14 th C.AD, one of the Track of underground city at Gaziemir and a former Greek Village, Guzelyurt with beautiful examples of Greek Architecture & Orthodox Churches.
Drive to Southwest with your expert tour leader and private transportation to explore more off the beaten paths of Cappadocia. First stop of the day is Gaziemir Underground city - locating in a small Anatolian village - recently unearthed in Cappadocia, boasts the largest storages and stables compared to other under ground cities. The hidden church below the earth is one of the real gem. During excavations, many of well preserved amphoras were found, which were used to store wine, grains and water. Next, drive to Ihlara Valley, one of the best hiking spots of Cappadocia with several pigeon holes, churches and living quarters- cut by the Melendiz River in addition to the importance of being one of the important monastic settlements during the Byzatine period. After a short Yoga retreat nearby the river, visit the churches of Agacalti & Snake Church which are partly preserved with their reportoires and architectures. Hike ends up at Belisirma Village, the old Pedestrian, popular with its restaurants on the river.
Lunch will be served at a local restaurant by the river with local recipies of Aksaray region.
After lunch we will visit Guzelyurt Village / former Gelveri with other name- is one of the most important ecclesiastics of Greek Orthodox. Today, the village bears more than 50 churches, several monasteries and beautiful Greek mansions. One of the most important churches are the St. Gregory & St. Mamas churches. Tradition has it that St. Gregory of Nazianzus was born and died nearby and is prominent as one of the 4th century Cappadocian Fathers who defended the Nicene Creed against Arianism which denied the Divinity of Jesus Christ. After a walk in the valley of monasteries, we will drive back to hotel. ( B-L-D).
Day 3: Unknown Cappadocia:
Check out from your hotel in the morning and get ready for another memorable day in Cappadocia with your visits to Aciksaray Open Air Museum and Church of St. John, one of the dedicated and beloved saints in Orthodox world. Aciksaray (Open Palace) Museum houses many of the Christian living areas, wineries, storages and burials today. The area is considered to be the courtyard of monasteries meanwhile there are not many functional ecclesiastical structures except 2 main churches. Early scholars including Rott (1908), de Jerphanion (1925-42), Verzone (1962) and Kostov (1972) have interpreted this large sprawling complex as a series of monasteries, similar to those found at Goreme, Gullu Dere and Soganli Dere, though. We will take a walk around the ruins of caves and enjoy the serene atmosphere. Next we drive to St. John Church one of the most important churches around Cappadocia due its very distinctive Biblical scenes such as The Dormition of Mary The Last Judgement and Fight of Goodness and Badness can be observed in the church. After our visits, we will transfer you to Nevsehir or Kayseri airport to board on your onward flight. (B-L) .
